At this point in your learning, I'd definitely recommend learing cryptography basics as well as reading into other password managers.
Not every manager uses the same methods for creating the keys, and different managers have different methods for encrypting/decrypting.
Just because LastPass shit the bed does not mean we throw the baby out with the bath water.
There are plenty of PW Managers that are doing great work.
